Rebuilding the Record: Mulgrave's Senior Playing Statistics (1980s-2025)
The Mulgrave Cricket Club, established in 1905, has a long and proud history built on the contributions of generations of players and teams who have shaped the culture and success of the club. Among its many achievements, the club holds the record for the most consecutive premierships at Dunstan Shield level (the ECA’s highest grade), won across five seasons from 2002/03 to 2006/07.
While the club has consistently documented its premiership successes—such as team lists and match highlights—within annual reports, maintaining comprehensive individual player statistics has historically presented a challenge, particularly during periods when record‑keeping relied solely on paper scorebooks.
In 2025, the club undertook a significant initiative to address this gap by consolidating historical playing records. This involved collating data from archived paper scorebooks dating back to the early to mid‑1980s and integrating these with the more recent digital records available through PlayCricket, which have been maintained from the 2008/09 season onwards. The result is a unified statistical record capturing over four decades of senior cricket at Mulgrave.
The excerpts presented below provide a summary of senior playing statistics as at April 2025, including Total Games Played, 1st XI Appearances, Total Runs, Total Wickets, and Total Catches. This work represents an important step in preserving the club’s history and recognising the contributions of its players across eras.
The club extends its sincere thanks to Matthew Maiolo for his considerable effort in retrieving, reviewing, and reconciling historical records to produce this comprehensive dataset.
Go Mully!
