Premier Re-Opens Pavilion after Major Redevelopment
On Friday 10th March 2023 the tenant clubs of Mulgrave Reserve welcomed The Premier, The Hon. Daniel Andrews MP (in his capacity as the local member) and representatives from the City of Monash including Mayor Tina Samardzija, Councillors Cr Shane McCluskey-Mulgrave Ward and Cr Theo Zographos-Oakleigh Ward, for the official re-opening of the sports pavilion following completion of its major redevelopment.
Representing Mulgrave CC was President Richard Dwelly, who was joined at the opening by Scott Davidson (Mulgrave FC) and Jessica Coyle (Eastern Devils FC) as co-tenants of the reserve.
The $4m+ project has been jointly funded by City of Monash and the Victorian Government, and delivers a significant refurbishment of the existing building, retaining the footprint of the historical social room, and completing an overhaul of the existing changerooms and amenities, kitchen and canteen area, and public bathrooms. In addition the development features a substantial undercover concourse viewing area and new adjoining wing created to duplicate the existing changerooms and amenities. The new building delivers the necessary increased changeroom capacity previously lacking and includes female-friendly amenities, two new umpires rooms, first aid room, and timekeepers box.
The committee of Mulgrave CC are delighted to be moving back into the pavilion and wish to recognise the close collaboration having taken place between representatives of City of Monash Recreation / Capital Works teams and the Mulgrave tenant clubs over the last 2.5 years to make this happen. Many hours of work have been expended in working through the stakeholder engagement phases, then into design reviews and finally work inspections and handover. We also recognise the ongoing advocacy of Cr Shane McCluskey throughout the process for his advocacy for this project, and securing the support to make it happen.
